Why We Charge for the App (The 50% Rule)
I want to be completely raw about how this company makes money.
We could have started as a standard non-profit, begging for donations to build a trade school. But I don't believe in begging. I believe in working.
That is why we built Jolt.
Jolt is a premium tool for professional electricians. It is designed to solve real problems on the job site—conduit fill, bend calculations, NEC lookups. It costs money because it provides value.
But here is the promise: 50% of all revenue from Jolt goes directly to building the Jolt Academy.
When you pay your subscription, you aren't just buying a calculator. You are funding the development of a tuition-free (or low-cost) educational platform for someone who can't afford it. You are buying a tool for yourself, and funding a future for someone else.
This is self-sufficiency at the company level. We earn our keep, just like you do.
