Why We Called It "Rambam's Ladder"

Dec 08, 2025

Most people think charity is about writing a check. It’s not.

In the 12th century, the philosopher Maimonides (Rambam) defined the "Ladder of Giving." The bottom rungs are reluctant giving, or giving out of guilt. But the highest rung—the 8th Rung—is different.

The 8th Rung is Sustainability. It is giving a person a loan, a partnership, or a job, so that they never need to ask for charity again. It is the gift of dignity.

I’m an electrician. I work with my hands. I’ve seen good men and women stuck because they didn't have the tools or the training to climb out of a hole.

That is why this company exists. We aren't here to give handouts. We are here to build a ladder. Jolt (our app) provides the tools for today’s electricians, and the revenue builds the Jolt Academy—a school designed to pull the next generation up to the 8th Rung.

We are building a future where you don't need us anymore. That’s the goal.
